written by Es Príncep / July 16, 2024

Do you know where to get the best ice cream in Palma? If you enjoy strolling through the city centre, stopping at every shop window, and visiting monuments or iconic buildings, there will come a time when you'll really want something refreshing.

Ice creams and slushies are the best options to beat the heat, enjoy a break in your walk, and discover new places.

At the Rooftop of Es Príncep, you can enjoy any of the many options on our select menu, but if you want to find the best places in Palma for a stop, keep reading.

A Classic: Can Joan de s’Aigo

This is a classic spot, and we've already mentioned it before on this blog for winter visits with hot chocolate and ensaimadas.

In summer, you should visit one of their three locations in Palma to try slushies, sorbets, and ice creams of all kinds. One of their specialties, for instance, is the trampó sorbet, named after a Mallorcan salad made with tomato, white onion, and green pepper, seasoned with oil, salt, and vinegar.

These types of savory sorbets are used to accompany meat and fish dishes, offering a fresh alternative to a salad or vegetables.

But if you want to cool off and enjoy a more conventional ice cream, you'll undoubtedly find the best here. Mallorcan tradition is reflected in their almond or hazelnut ice creams, but there are also more original options in their display.

Can Miquel, Nearly 100 Flavors

Another very traditional place in Palma is Can Miquel, which boasts nearly one hundred different flavors on its menu.

It's the perfect place for a mid-morning or afternoon stop, after a shopping session or a walk through the city centre. You can find it on Jaime III or in a small square behind the popular avenue.

Since 1979, they have been offering, among other things, up to twenty versions of their wonderful chocolate ice cream. The rest includes all kinds of fruit flavors and others like coffee, cappuccino, rum raisin, and many more.

Gelateria Rosario, The Taste of Italian Ice Cream

Italian ice cream is very famous in Palma, and one of the places where you can try it is Plaza del Rosario, where the Italian ice cream shop shares the same name as its location.

It's five minutes from the Cathedral of Mallorca, very close to Plaza de Cort, and just five minutes from Paseo del Borne, one of the highlights of Palma's Golden Mile.

Here you'll find flavors like pistachio, strawberry, stracciatella, brownie, and many more.

If you fancy, we recommend trying one of their homemade cookies, which you can pair with one of their ice creams or slushies before continuing your walk.

Gelats Paco, on Calle Blanquerna

They started with mobile carts, preparing ice lollies, bonbons, "Korean" lollies (hazelnut and chocolate ice lollies), ice cream bars...

And now, they also offer a wide variety of slushies and expanded flavours, complemented by cuartos, cookies, ensaimadas, and all kinds of sweets.

You can currently find them on Calle Blanquerna or Benet Pons i Fàbregas.

Ready to enjoy the freshest flavors of Palma? Take advantage of the hottest summer days to stroll through the city and enjoy all the options it offers.
