Plans and activities to do in Palma in Summer 2024

written by Es Príncep / July 23, 2024

We present a summer 2024 full of experiences, plans, and activities to enjoy in Palma during your stay at Es Príncep.

These summer months are packed with culture, gastronomy, history, and fun, offering you the perfect mix to enjoy during your vacation.

Whether you seek relaxation, adventure, or a deep dive into the customs of Mallorca's capital, Palma has something for everyone. Here are some of the best plans to enjoy in the city this summer.

Explore the Old Town

The historic heart of Palma remains a must-see. Very close to the hotel, you can embark on several routes that will take you through the most iconic and secret corners of the old town.

The Cathedral of Mallorca, known as La Seu, is essential to visit, not only for its Gothic architecture but also for the interior works by great artists like Antonio Gaudí and Miquel Barceló.

In the center of Palma, you can explore the noble courtyards of ancient wealthy families' houses, visit the Museum of Mallorca, which this year features an interactive exhibition on the island's maritime history, or stroll through remnants of past cultures, such as the Muslim or Jewish quarters.

Sunset in the Bay of Palma

The sunsets in the Bay of Palma are always a highlight. At Es Príncep's Rooftop, you get front-row seats to the spectacle from above, accompanied by music and refreshments, cocktails, or liqueurs with tapas.

If you prefer to enjoy the sunset from the Paseo Marítimo, you'll find more pedestrian spaces and green areas after the recent remodeling of the whole area.

By the sea, you'll find many eco-friendly beach bars offering various gastronomic delights made with local products and live music.

Discover Local Fashion Shopping

Sant Miquel Street, Plaza Mayor, the shops on San Jaime Street… the center of Palma remains the city's shopping and fashion hub. If you're observant, you'll notice a shift towards local and sustainable products.

Many stores promote Mallorcan designers and artisanal island products.

One of the most beautiful markets we recommend visiting is La Lonja, which opens every night and features young designers and artists showcasing their creations, as well as various crafts.

Additionally, the Es Jonquet neighborhood, also near La Lonja and Paseo Sagrera, has become one of the city's artistic hubs. This summer, the streets are filling with murals and ephemeral sculptures as part of a weekly urban art show.

The Pelaires Contemporary Art Center offers an exhibition that combines digital and traditional art, presenting a fusion of Mallorca's history and its future.

Palma's Gastronomy at Its Best

Between the Tapas Route, the Santa Catalina Market, the gastronomic and nightlife offerings around La Lonja and Es Príncep… Palma's gastronomy is experiencing a golden age.

In every corner, you can find gourmet food stalls or tasting zones with all sorts of trends. Oysters by the piece with glasses of cava, sushi pieces, various meats, fresh fish… What more could you ask for from a vibrant and lively city?
